I am so sorry!

I am so sorry that I have not updated my blog in like forever! Things have been quite busy here! I have cought 15 babies so far! I have learned so much in my time here, I never would have gotten this experience in the States. I found out that I seem to have a knack for putting in IV's. I seem to have a fairly steady hand so it is a little easer for me then for some other people. I hope that I can keep in practice at home.

I only have 12 more days until I fly home! I am very excied about that! I can not wait to see my family again. I have made a few friends that I will be sad to leave behinde but with the power of the internet I will be able to keep in contact. One friend in particular I will miss she is juts a little crazy as am I so we can cook up all sorts of things!

We have new students here so we have been covering quite a few shifts as we are short staffed at this time. I will be working 7 days strait next week! But they are all night shift so I really do not mind. Having new students has been fun. We had one get a little light headed on my last shift, she thought that she might pass out. I am glad that she sat down and before she hit the floor.

I can not wait to get into cooler weather! I am ready to be done being hot and sweaty all of the time. I long for the cool nights at home where you just might want to pull up a blanket and drink a cup of hot cocoa. The people here get cold very fast, they will be wearing coats and saying that it is cold when I am thinking that it feels very nice.

There have not been any really bad births and we are all thankful for that! Sometimes we get a little concerned but we have good teachers that will jump in if they see a problem. I did have one momma blow "raspberries" at me one day! I think that she was just playing with me because she was smiling at the time.

Well that is all for now! I better go before my brains start running out of my ears.

  1. Great to hear that you are doing well and that you have gained so much practical experience and knowledge on this mission.

We are continuing to pray for you daily and frequently and hope to hear more of your experiences out in the medical field when you return home.

    God bless you and yours.
Let us know when you arrive back home please.
We will be praying the Travel Prayer for your safe return passage back to your waiting family and friends.

  2. So excited to know you are heading home shortly! I know your time there has been a wonderful experience for you. New friends, a different culture and a challenge. It sounds like you will see your home and family in a new light and hold them close. What a great gift to hold all those precious babies and touch their mommy's lives. How sweet to trust in Jesus and learn to lean on Him.
Praying for your safe return. I for one am looking forward to great big hugs!!!

  4. Your posts are incredibly poorly written. The grammar and sentence structures you use make you seem at least 10 years younger than you are. It terrifies me that somebody incapable of spelling basic words such as "cought" "excied" "behinde" "juts" and "strait" is practicing medicine of any sort. You give homeschoolers everywhere a bad name. Also then is not the same as than. Learn the difference. I'm just so embarrassed for you.

  5. Wow, your spelling and grammar are really atrocious. Who was your elementary school teacher, and why did you pass?
And why not spell-check your writing before posting it for the world to read?

  6. Anonymous August 28th @ 10:05 pm and Anonymous August 29th @ 2:11 pm:
Your posts brought to mind a scripture referring to women in 1 Timothy 5:13 "And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; (or from blog to blog) and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not."
Philippians 4:8 shows us a better way "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report: If there be any virture and if there be any praise, think on these things." In our culture I think that has been paraphrased to "If you can't say anything nice - don't say anything at all".
Proverbs 17:28 says "Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding."
Praying that you meet our Lord Jesus Christ.
    In kindness,
    Grace Tome

  9. To the two anonymous people who are attacking my wonderful friend's grammar and spelling: Might I ask you, what is more important Joan's spelling and grammar or her heart to serve others and share her experiences with the world? Should we really judge others on their grammar? There are much more important things in life. I have worked with and lived with this wonderful woman for three months and can say that the fruit I have seen in her life is incredible.
You may have impeccable grammar and spelling, but might I ask, where is your fruit? Are you coming out of a spirit of love and grace as Jesus did? Or are you coming out of a spirit of shallowness and judgement as the Pharisees did?

Also, Joan, you're super rad ka'ayo and I love you lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and miss you so super much and can't wait to come visit you!!! (And that my friends is a run on sentence)
